JUNIOR COMPETITIONS

Judging on Saturday, 3rd October.

VENUE: LEISURE CENTRE

Entries by 1 pm sharp

Entry Fee $1.00 G.S.T. included

No area restrictions

Judging to commence at 1.15 pm Sharp

Beginning with Miss Tiny Tot.

Other sections below will be judged immediately following the completion of the previous section. Entrants in all sections to be dressed: ‘Suitable for a Country Show’

 

SG1   MISS TINY TOT

Contestants to be aged 3 & 4 Years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

Prizes –Gifts donated by Hippbotts, Clark’s Gift Salon, Nappy Shack and voucher from Northern Shoe Store.

 

SG2   MR TINY TOT

Contestants to be aged 3 to 5 years (Inclusive), on the day of the Show.

Prizes –Football donated by A&P Society. Gifts donated by Norm Smith Sports and Angus & Robertson Swan Hill and voucher from Northern Shoe Store.

 

 

SG3   Miss Junior Showgirl

Contestants to be aged 5 and 6 years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

Prizes –Gifts donated by Book City Swan Hill and Mrs V. Woodburn and Toy World and voucher from Northern Shoe Store.

 

 

SG4   Mr Junior

Contestants to be aged 6 to 8 years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

Prizes –Gift Vouchers and voucher to Giggle and Bounce and voucher from Northern Shoe Store.

SG5   Miss Midi Showgirl

Contestants to be 7, 8 and 9 years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

SG6   Miss Pre Teen

Contestants to be aged 10, 11 and 12 years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

Contestants to be aged 13 to 16 years (Inclusive) on the day of the Show.

The Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd Rural Ambassador Award

Open to all young people aged over 20 to 30 years on 1st May 2010

Regional & State Rural Ambassador Awards are proudly sponsored by KUBOTA.

 

To be conducted annually, jointly by the RAS VAS Ltd and Rural Ambassador Committee.

Aims: To highlight the talent, creativity and ingenuity of young rural Victorians and in doing so encourage entrants to be role models across local communities. To encourage and reward enthusiastic, skilful and industrious young people living or having an involvement in rural environments. To assist all entrants through their participation to develop strong communication and leadership qualities and to directly assist the winner through the support of a bursary. Enable the applicant to gain greater proficiency in their chosen field and also to develop the applicant’s stature and reputation in that chosen field.

Entry: Entrants must apply for and complete the official entry form which is available at the Swan Hill Show Society’s Office. Return the application form together with a covering letter addressing the selection criteria as outlined in Section 4 of the application form.

Requirements: Aged over 20 and less than 30 years at the 1st May of the year of the State Final. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about rural life and affairs, and agricultural shows. Able to spend the required time at the local Show, Group Level finals and the State Final at the Royal Melbourne Show.

Judging Criteria: Entrants to wear smart casual tailored clothing.

 

Entrants will be judged in accordance with the National Final guidelines below, as outlined by the Federal

Council of Agricultural Societies:

Community Involvement                5 points

Country Show Involvement            25 points

Rural & General Knowledge          20 points

Personality                                 10 points

Ambition/Goals                           20 points

Communication Skills                  10 points

Style, grooming and deportment   10 points

Prizes Awarded at Group Level - First Prize Certificate plus Jacket & Plaque - supplied by VAS Ltd, prize donated by KUBOTA

Prizes Awarded at State Level - First Prize – Monetary amount to be advised - donated by KUBOTA

Runner-up Prize – Monetary amount to be used for educational and development activities and a plaque.

Winner at Show Society level will compete in a Group Final, date and venue to be advised. Group Final winners will compete in a State Final run by RAS Rural Ambassador Co-ordinator.

Sponsors, RAS, VASL, WEEKLY TIMES, ACE RADIO AND KUBOTA.

The competition will be run by qualification through Country Shows to Group Finals, with a State Final being held at the Royal Melbourne Show September 2010.

 

At Group Final each applicant to present a 3-minute address to the judging panel on a topic to be determined by the Group and subject to a 20-minute interview.

State Final Judging will be conducted at the Royal Melbourne Show in September. Each candidate will spend three (3) days at the Royal Melbourne Show, accommodation paid for by RAS. The winner will be announced at a formal dinner to be held on the last night.

 

Junior Show Ambassador

Open to all young people aged 16 to 19 years

Regional and State Junior Show Ambassador Awards are proudly sponsored by KUBOTA.

 

Aims of the Competition:

To give young people a chance to take part in a competition whilst still residing in their local district. Also highlighting the importance of shows by being involved in a local show.

Age: Open to males and females aged 16-19 years on the 1st of May 2010.

Application Forms available at the Swan Hill Show Society’s Office.

Judging Criteria: Entrants to wear smart casual clothing and will be judged in accordance with the following guidelines:-

Community Involvement              25 points

Rural and General Knowledge     25 points

Ambitions/Goals                        20 points

Communication Skills                 20 points

Grooming & Confidence              10 points
